By John Hall for MailOnline

Islamic State militants fighting in Syria and Iraq have released a sickening video of a young woman being stoned to death by a group of men – including her own father.

The shocking footage is understood to have been filmed in the city of Hama and shows a bearded cleric ranting at the woman in Arabic and accusing her adultery while she pleads for her life.

The woman turns to her father and begs his forgiveness but he coldly rejects her, saying he would rather please God. He then turns to the men to give the signal for his daughter’s murder to begin.

Minutes later, as the men rain rocks down upon the helpless woman, her father steps forward with a large stone and the video fades to black.

It is believed he had been granted the barbaric ‘honour’ of being allowed end the life of the daughter he felt had betrayed both him and her religion.

In a separate incident a man was executed in Idlib province in an area controlled by Islamist groups including the Nusra Front, al Qaeda’s official affiliate in Syria, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which tracks violence on all sides of Syria’s civil war.

It is the first documented case of a man being stoned to death for adultery since Syria descended into civil war in 2011 and hardline Islamic groups emerged as powerful players in areas that slipped from government control, the Observatory said.

The sickening five-minute video emerged on ISIS-affiliated social media pages this morning. It is not clear when the footage was actually shot and has not been independently verified.

The exact accusations against the woman remain sketchy, although the cleric who appears at the start of mobile phone-filmed clip accuses her of committing adultery.

The militant orders her to be ‘content and happy’ that she is about to be stoned to death because, he says, her death has been ordered by God and is therefore required under Islamic law.

Asking her is she is now willing to ‘submit to God’ and be stoned to death, the young woman replies ‘yes’, before pleading with her father to forgive her.

After initially ignoring her, the man is eventually prompted into responding by the militant.

‘Don’t call me father,’ he tells his daughter, who responds by asking him to pray for her.

At this point her father turns to the ISIS fighters, who help him tie a rope around her neck and drag her to a pit, where the stoning begins.

The exact moment of her death is not caught on camera as the footage fades to black moments before her father strikes her.

ISIS militants often use stoning to murder women they accuse of committing adultery.

Earlier this year the extremists stoned two women to death in Raqqa after accusing them of having sex outside marriage.  Both were placed in holes in the ground before a lorry arrived to dump large rocks for the men to use to brutally murder the women.

‘I’VE BEEN RAPED 30 TIMES AND IT’S NOT EVEN LUNCHTIME’: DESPERATE PLIGHT OF YAZIDI WOMAN WHO BEGGED WEST TO BOMB HER BROTHEL AFTER ISIS MILITANTS SOLD HER INTO SEX SLAVERY

A young Yazidi woman forced into sex slavery by the Islamic State begged the West to bomb the brothel where she was being held after militants raped her 30 times in just a few hours, it is claimed.

The unidentified woman is understood to have been kept as a prisoner of the jihadists somewhere in western Iraq having been captured by ISIS during the Sinjar massacre in early August.

A group raising awareness of ISIS’ persecution of women in the vast swathes of the Middle East under its control said the woman had contacted Kurdish peshmerga fighters by telephone to plead for the brothel to be bombed to put the women held as sex slaves out of their misery.

Horror: The woman said she had been raped so many times by ISIS militants (pictured) that she could no longer use the toilet, adding that the ordeal has been so harrowing that she plans to commit suicide even if freed

She allegedly told the fighters she had been raped so frequently that she could no longer use the toilet, adding that the ordeal has been so harrowing that she plans to commit suicide even if freed.

Details of the woman’s brutal experience at the hands of the Islamic State emerged during an interview with Kurdish activists staging demonstrations in London to raise awareness of the plight of women in the Middle East.

During an interview with BBC World Service, a man identified as Karam described how a friend embedded with the peshmerga took a phone call from the Yazidi woman.

Describing the woman as crying on the phone, Karam quoted her as saying: ‘If you know where we are please bomb us… There is no life after this. I’m going to kill myself anyway – others have killed themselves this morning.’

‘I’ve been raped 30 times and it’s not even lunchtime. I can’t go to the toilet. Please bomb us,’ he claimed the woman added.

LONDON, October 21 (RIA Novosti) – The ASEM summit in Milan cruelly exposed the illusions EU leaders hold about the Ukrainian conflict, and not for the first time

https://i0.wp.com/en.ria.ru/images/19434/57/194345742.jpg

Ever since the February coup in Ukraine, the EU’s leaders have held to two assumptions: First, that the crisis in Ukraine is a conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and second, that they can bend Russia to their will by applying pressure on it to achieve the outcome they want in Ukraine. This outcome would entail the complete restoration of Kiev’s undiluted political control over the whole country, including the rebellious regions in the east (even the EU leaders quietly acknowledge that Crimea is lost to Ukraine forever).

These two assumptions blind the EU leaders to reality. Since they insist on seeing the conflict as one between Ukraine and Russia, they deny the reality that the regime in Kiev that they are supporting came to power through a violent, unconstitutional coup, which is behind the current conflict.  As a result, they refuse to see that this is not a conflict between Ukraine and Russia but an internal conflict between Ukrainians, between the people of eastern Ukraine who opposed the February coup and the ultra-nationalist, Russophobic regime in Kiev and the political system it has created.

The other reality the EU leaders seem ignorant of Russia itself and its role in the world. Not only is Russia far stronger economically than they seem to realise (witness its success in absorbing the recent oil price fall) but their entire approach shows that they have still not adjusted to the comparative relevance of the Chinese and Asian economies in terms of Russian oil and gas consumption. They act as if it is still only the West that matters. That Russia is not dependent on their goodwill for its economic survival and has other partners to trade with is something they seem unable to face.

The assumption that the conflict can therefore be “solved” in the manner the EU wants, by pressuring Russia, is therefore doubly misplaced. Russia didn’t cause the conflict in Ukraine and is not responsible for its outcome; it cannot simply switch it off at the EU’s bidding in the way EU leaders appear to think it can, even if it wanted to. At the same time, the sanctions the EU has imposed to pressure Russia, while causing Russia real problems, cannot damage Russia in the way they think. Europe’s moves are much more likely to anger Russia and consolidate popular support for the Russian government than bend it to their will. In the meantime it is becoming clearer by the day that by adopting sanctions, the EU leaders seriously underestimated the harm they would do to their own economies.

https://i0.wp.com/en.ria.ru/images/19434/57/194345790.jpg

This persistent failure of the EU leaders to face reality has set the scene for a fiasco.

With their own economies coming under increasing pressure and with Ukraine itself continuing to suffer due to its deepening crisis, the EU leaders, especially Angela Merkel, need to resolve the Ukrainian conflict quickly.  They seem to have persuaded themselves that a combination of sanctions, falling oil prices and their collective presence in Milan would somehow force the Russians to retreat in the way they wanted.  They seem to have disregarded warnings from Moscow that this would not happen and that Moscow would not change its policies in order to get sanctions lifted.

What happened therefore came as a shock. Not only did the Russians not retreat as expected but as Dmitry Peskov, the Russian Presidential spokesman said, they sought instead once more to educate the EU leaders about what’s really going on in Ukraine, explaining that the conflict is an internal one and not one between Ukraine and Russia. Since this is a reality the EU leaders refuse to face, the lesson was extremely unwelcome.

The EU leaders were left clutching at a comment by President Putin that he did not want to see the situation in eastern Ukraine become another frozen conflict and that Russia does not dispute or seek to undermine Ukraine’s integrity. These words in fact simply reflect what has been Russia’s position all along – that since this is an internal Ukrainian conflict, it is for the Ukrainians themselves to settle their differences between themselves through negotiations and that the outcome is for them to decide. However, the EU leaders refuse to see this, instead persisting in the fantasy that the conflict is one between Ukraine and Russia, with Russia committing “aggression” against Ukraine, and misunderstood these banal words as Russia somehow “backing off” from its phantom aggression.

The only practical result that appears to have come out of the summit is that Ukrainian customs officials and guards will resume working at their posts on the Russian border. This was actually agreed on by the Russians as long ago as July 2, 2014 at an earlier summit in Berlin and is therefore nothing new. Both Ukrainian officials and OSCE monitors have been observing the border for months and have seen no evidence of the heavy traffic of Russian troops and military equipment the Ukrainians and the West claim is happening.  The fact that there is no evidence for it does not however shake the EU leaders’ belief that it is going on. Given their stubborn belief in something for which they have no proof, it is difficult to see how a further deployment of Ukrainian customs officials and guards and of more OSCE monitors on the border is going to make any difference.

The Milan summit is a textbook case of a conflict that is being unnecessarily prolonged because of a refusal to face facts.  It is still in theory possible to resolve this crisis diplomatically through a settlement brokered by the Russians and the Europeans. However, for that to happen, the Europeans need to completely change their understanding of the crisis. Since it seems they cannot do this, the conflict will continue, and will not be settled diplomatically but by events on the ground.  It is a certainty when that happens that the result will not be the ones the Europeans like, but by refusing to face facts, they are losing the ability to influence the outcome.

https://i0.wp.com/en.ria.ru/images/19295/27/192952722.jpg

The Milan summit witnessed a similar fiasco in the gas negotiations, again because the Europeans came to them with a completely wrong set of assumptions.  That however is something to discuss later, once the latest round of tripartite gas negotiations between the Ukrainians, the Russians and the Europeans are over.

Mit einem vielseitigen Rundumschlag äußerte sich Anna Kirschner auf der Montagsmahnwache in Leipzig

The mission to take back the Hawaiian Kingdom after more than 100 years of United States occupation is a matter of exposing war crimes and seeking compliance through international venues, said Dr. Keanu Sai, political scientist and acting-ambassador for Hawai‘i. “This isn’t a matter of America doing the right thing. America will be forced to comply,” he said.

https://i0.wp.com/d1jrw5jterzxwu.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/article_media/keanu-sai.jpg

For more than 100 years, the United States has unlawfully occupied Hawai’i, forcing Americanization upon Hawaiian citizens. These are considered war crimes under international law, the same war crimes Germany was prosecuted for in the trials at Nuremberg in 1945.

In June, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law will determine whether or not Hawai’i will be listed as an occupied state in the “War Report.”

In a short university tour along the northeast coast, Sai detailed the plan to end the illegal and prolonged American occupation of Hawai’i. His presentation of the Americanization of Hawai’i will be a familiar saga to North American tribes that also endured language and cultural suppression. “Under international law, this crime attempts to denationalize the inhabitants of an occupied state,” Sai said.

Before Americanization, Hawai’i was recognized as a sovereign state by countries around the world, where Hawai’i maintained over 90 embassies and consulates. The increase of Hawai’i’s population from 1890 to 1950, which grew from 89,000 to 499,000 is “what happens when you occupy a country,” Sai said, citing Article 49 of the Geneva Convention, which states an occupier may not transfer parts of its own civilian population into territory it occupies.

Taking back Hawai’i is a multi-faceted process. The education of the people in Hawai’i is an important step and Sai has been spreading the word internationally and at home. The University of Hawai’i is becoming a think tank where graduate students research the past as well as plan the next steps in Hawai’i’s future.

Loukanikos was often pictured at front line of protests

Thursday 09 October 2014

Loukanikos, the much-loved Greek riot dog who became internationally famous for appearing on the front line of anti-austerity protests in Greece, has sadly passed away.

Greek media reports that Loukanikos, or ‘Sausage’ in English, died two years after he retired from protests in Athens.

The canine became a symbol of resistance in Greece after he was pictured facing off with riot police and surrounded by tear gas during various demonstrations.

Protesters said he would often stand with them during bouts of unrest and protect people by grabbing tear gas canisters and pushing them away.

Loukanikos caused particular delight when he was seen holding his own with a policeman before running up and down the city’s main boulevard and relieving himself.

However, his health was said to have been severely affected by the tear gas and he eventually retired as the Eurozone protests began to ease, where he was cared for by an Athens man.Athen’s-based journalist Damian Mac Con Uladh said Loukanikos died peacefully. He was believed to have been aged about ten-years-old.

News of his death prompted an outpouring of tributes to Loukanikos on Twitter. One user wrote: RIP Loukanikos – you’ll always be remembered little comrade!
